The Season So Far . . .
The 2011/2012 has been one of the most successful in recent times with
Le Beau Bai's Coral Welsh National success making the headlines nationwide.
Indeed, Richard currently sits comfortably within the top 30 trainers in the country having sent out 13 winners so far and boasting over £138,000 in prize money at the turn of the New Year.
Charlie Poste is the leading jockey for the stable with Tom Scudamore, Jamie Moore, Richard Johnson, Jake Greenall, Giles Hawkins and Johnny Farrelly all having landed the spoils for Richard this season.
Fighting Chance put us on the board back in April when winning at Hereford for Jamie Moore but a quiet summer followed with just 22 runners during the dryer months.
Richard sent out two winners from just 13 runners in October and these came in the form of Hector's Choice at Aintree and our veteran chaser Marked Man at Towcester.
Both horses gave us great cause for excitement and Hector's Choice went on to impress at Cheltenham when a close second to Calgary Bay on New Year's Day.
November and December were the most fruitful months providing 10 winners including the much coveted Coral Welsh National.
Knock A Hand and Le Beau Bai have risen as stable stars with 5 winners between them while Victory Gunner made a controversial statement when telling us all that he's quite keen on Ffos Las. The 14yo trounced his younger rivals on both trips there this winter.
A sad note to the season was the loss of one of our much loved owners, Sally Edwards. Together with husband David, Sally has been a long standing friend at the Bell House and will be very much missed. Highway Code carried the Edwards colours to victory during the week which marked Sally's passing.
On a happier note, Knock A Hand landed a hat-trick of winners and rounded off the year with a seriously impressive victory on heavy ground at Haydock. The style in which he battled runner-up Sydney Paget was note-worthy and he has made it on to some of the most coveted horses to follow lists this spring.
Grey Gold and Johnny Farrelly made a winning partnership at Bangor over hurdles while Milo Milan and Charlie Poste made a winning chase debut at the Welsh track later in November. |
